COLLECT : the leading international art fair for contemporary craft and design.
Angus is delighted to be returning to COLLECT : the leading international art fair for craft and design. It presents an opportunity to develop new experimental work, and over the years he has made some memorable pieces for the fair, including the Forth Bench, the Spey Bench, the Quercus Pods and the Whisky Collectors Cabinet.
For COLLECT 2025 Angus has made the Clova Table: an elegant occasional table with clover-shaped top and petal-like pedestal base.
Angus’s design development is often process led and his steambending process has been a journey through ‘loops’ (see Unstable Stool and Forth Bench), slicing and bending (see the Y component nominated for the Wood Awards and including Y Desk and Aye Dining Table) and this year he has developed a table understructure used for the Newhall Backgammon Table.
The beautiful strong, pedestal base of the Clova Table is formed from eight lengths of oak that have been sliced, steamed, split, bent and interconnected to create four folded-petal-like legs. The table is perfect as an occasional table to display beautiful objects.
The quatrefoil top has divided segments to compliment the under-structure. The Clova Table is made with some beautifully figured oak, from a large tree blown down during Storm Arwen, in Glen Lyon. We have used the name Clova for the table as it sounds like clover (the name people intuitively use) and for Glen Clova, a beautiful Angus Glen in the Cairngorms National Park. We are also presenting a pair of Clova Chairs at COLLECT.
COLLECT is a gallery presented show, and we are returning with Contemporary Applied Arts (CAA) gallery who have a shop in Marylebone, London.
COLLECT is the flagship event for the UK Crafts Council, held in Somerset House London, showcasing forty craft galleries, from over thirty countries, presenting the finest craft from across the globe.
